MG has officially revealed the all-new ZS in the international market. The new second-generation model of the B-segment SUV promises to up the game significantly in terms of technology, comfort, and performance.
That being said, the second-generation model looks more like a thorough facelift particularly when compared to other recently released newer generation MG models that seem to give more justice to the term ‘all-new’.
In terms of styling, the new second-gen ZS gets a more aggressive fascia with a redesigned large grille, wider and vertically designed air damps, a full-width light bar connecting the headlamps cluster that also houses sleek LED DRLs, and a repositioned MG logo, which now sits above the grille.
The side profile remains pretty much identical to that of the previous iteration with a slightly tweaked alloy wheel design. At the rear, the new ZS gets a reworked bumper with a split design and redesigned taillamps. Other design highlights include a repositioned brand logo on the tailgate, an extended rear spoiler with an integrated stop lamp, a rear windshield wiper, and a silver faux pattern that resembles dual exhaust outlets.
The interior gets a comprehensive overhaul, with a far more modern dashboard sporting trapezoidal air vents and a minimalist center console with a flat gear selector. The in-car tech consists of a 7-inch digital instrument display and a 12.3-inch infotainment touchscreen with built-in navigation, live services, and Apple CarPlay & Android Auto.
For now, only the Hybrid+ model has been revealed that benefits from a 1.5L 102 hp/128 Nm naturally-aspirated petrol engine with a 135 hp/250 Nm electric motor and a 1.83 kWh battery, resulting in a total system output of 195 hp and 465 Nm. This will help the ZS sprint from 0 to 100 km/h in 8.7 seconds, all while achieving a fuel consumption figure as low as 5.1 liters per 100 km (19.6 km/l) on the WLTP cycle.
As for features, the new ZS Hybrid+ comes loaded with wireless smartphone connectivity, an ADAS suite, a Type-C charging port, an electronic parking brake with auto hold, automatic climate control, a 360-degree camera, and a wireless charger.
