5 Years of Ciaz in India- 2.7 Lac Units Sold

Launched back in 2014, the Suzuki Ciaz has completed its 5 years in Indian market. According to Maruti, the company has sold 2.7 lac units of the popular subcompact sedan in India.

The Ciaz is one of the most popular sedan in its segment which comes in 4 variants– Sigma, Delta, Zeta and Alpha. According to Maruti, the top-spec Alpha trim contributes to over 54% of the total sales, while the Blue color variant contributed to 30% of overall Ciaz sales.

Shashank Srivastava, Executive Director Marketing & Sales at Maruti said:

“Since its launch, the Ciaz has witnessed a resounding success in highly competitive sedan market. Ciaz commands a 30% market share in its segment and has struck a chord with Indian customers.”

The Ciaz rivals against the likes of Honda City, Hyundai Verna, Toyota Yaris, Volkswagen Vento and Skoda Rapid in Indian market. In 2018, the Ciaz received a thorough makeover with improved styling, updated features as well as new engine options. Currently the Ciaz in India comes available with 3 engine options. There is a 1.5-liter K15 Smart Hybrid petrol engine that churns out 105 hp and 138 Nm of torque. It is offered with 5-speed manual and 4-speed automatic transmission options.

Then there is a 1.5-liter DDiS 225 diesel engine that delivers 70 hp and 225 Nm of torque. It is mated to a 6-speed manual gearbox. Lastly there is the 1.3-liter DDiS 200 Smart Hybrid diesel that churns out 90 hp and 200 Nm of torque and comes paired to a 5-speed manual transmission.

The Ciaz offers a long list of features including LED projector headlamps with integrated DRLs, LED rear combination lamps, 16-inch alloy wheels, leather seat upholstery, automatic AC with climate control, rear AC vents, 7-inch SmartPlay touchscreen infotainment system, GPS navigation, multi-function steering wheel, engine start/stop feature, keyless entry, reverse parking camera and cruise control.

Furthermore the Ciaz is pedestrian protection, full-frontal impact, frontal-offset impact and side-impact compliant. It gets standard safety features like dual front airbags, IsoFix, high-speed warning alert and ABS with EBD. Ciaz in India is priced from INR 8.2 lac (PKR 18.0 lac) and goes as high as INR 11.38 lac (PKR 25.01 lac) for the fully loaded version.
