All-New Chevrolet Aveo Debuts For Mexico as New Entry-Level Model

Remember Chevrolet Aveo? The subcompact sedan that debuted in Pakistan in around 2006/07 when Nexus Automotive used to operate here. The car lived for a short while before Nexus packed up its operations and left.

Chevrolet struggled to see success in this part of the world as it also had to quit neighboring India due to poor sales soon a few years after leaving Pakistan. However the budget car Aveo continues to survive in some parts of the world even today, including Mexico where an all-new model has just been revealed featuring bold & angular styling.

The Aveo is currently available as a four-door sedan in Mexico, but the new generation arrives solely as a five-door hatchback. The fascia adorns headlights that are slimmer and squarish. The side profile features a belt-line that kinks upward creating a floating roof appearance, while making the tail appear sharper. The rear-end features sharp taillights and a simulated diffuser.

The automakers is yet to confirm whether the new Aveo will retain the existing power-plant or will be getting a newer one. According to Chevrolet’s Marketing Manager for Mexico, Wilberto del Angel:

“At Chevrolet, we continue to find new paths with vehicles that respond to the needs of our customers. The Aveo five-door hatchback will offer great value within the subcompact segment to maintain customers in this segment and win over more Mexicans, who, in addition to looking for an accessible car, also want an attractive design, connectivity, and safety equipment.

The new Chevrolet Aveo is expected to go on sale in Mexico during the first half of 2023.The car is also produced as a 4-door sedan by the SAIC-GM joint venture in China, we will have to wait to see if the new Aveo sedan for Chinese market gets the same design treatment as the sharp-looking hatchback.
