At the ongoing 2023 Shanghai Auto Show, MG unveiled the first set of official images & initial information for the all-electric Cyberster sportscar. Over the course of the following year, MG says the high-performance convertible sportscar will be sold in a number of markets across the globe.
MG claims that the Cyberster will be a “high-performance EV sports car,” likely the first of its sort since the original Tesla Roadster, despite the fact that no particular powertrain information is provided with this official announcement. It also marks the MG brand’s first new convertible in more than a decade, and it boasts “cutting-edge” driving technologies in addition to a futuristic interior.

With distinguishing features like the long hood, slender body lines, and Kammback rear, the contemporary design pays homage to famous MG roadsters seen throughout history. Innovative features include scissor doors and a totally electric drivetrain.
MG Cyberster EV
Although MG hasn’t revealed its dimensions, sources say the Cyberster EV will measure 4,535mm long, 1,913mm wide, and 1,329mm tall, making it marginally larger than the Porsche 718 Boxster and significantly larger than the Mazda MX-5. Cyberster will be available with either a single motor or a dual motor setup. The base single-motor variant will have 309 hp, while the dual-motor variant can have up to 543 hp making it the most potent MG ever.
The interior of the MG Cyberster, meanwhile, features a steering wheel with a yoke design à la Tesla and multiple digital displays for entertainment and driving data. As MG approaches its centennial in 2024, the Cyberster will dramatically increase the brand’s product selection, helping MG maintain its rapid growth trajectory.
The Cyberster is a ‘cell-to-pack’ battery production vehicle that is constructed on a brand-new platform centered upon the 2017 E-Motion coupe concept. In order to boost production efficiency and power density, this does away with the traditional modular structure utilized by contemporary EVs. A range of 800 kilometers is promised.

In addition to China, MG will introduce the Cyberster EV roadster to European markets too where the launch is expected to take place towards the latter half of the year.
