FAW has unveiled the new Hongqi H6 at the 2022 Guangzhou Auto Show in China. The luxury mid-size sedan is positioned between the Hongqi H5 and H7 in the brand’s lineup.
Hongqi, the premium brand under FAW’s umbrella already operates in 14 countries, including the Netherlands, Norway, Sweden, Saudi Arabia, and Israel. However, it has now announced to position itself as a global brand with H6 expected to be introduced in various markets across the world from 2023 onward.
The H6 measures 4,990mm long, 1,880mm wide, and 1,455mm tall with a wheelbase of 2,920mm. To put these dimensions into perspective, the Toyota Camry XV70 we have here measure 4,880/1,840/1,450mm with a 2,820mm wheelbase. This makes the Hongqi H6 larger than the Camry in every aspect.
In terms of design, the H6 wears a large mesh grille up front with vertical slats surrounded by thick chrome embellishments and vertically positioned LED DRLs on either side. The logo at the center of the grille extends as an ornament all the way up to the middle of the bonnet, creating a unique visual identity.
The side profile of Hongqi H6 shows a sloping roof line, and D-pillar with a floating look, making for a racy flying buttress design. The rear gets an integrated spoiler with the boot lid, while the boomerang-shaped tail lights that make a full-width connection are split with a body-colored strip. Depending on the variant, the intricately designed alloys will come either in 18-inch or 19-inch guise. Another interesting design feature is the presence of dual exhausts at the very center of the vehicle.
The interior has a three-spoke flat-bottomed, multifunctional steering wheel wrapped in leather. The H6 comes equipped with a full LCD instrument panel and a large vertical central control screen display. Other features worth mentioning are paddle shifters, a panoramic sunroof, an electric parking brake, a variable damping suspension, and more.
Under the hood, the Hongqi H6 gets a 2.0T engine with a maximum power of 248 hp and a peak torque of 380 Nm. Paired with an 8-speed automatic transmission, FAW claims that the H6 can accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in 6.8 seconds. Hongqi H6 will also come equipped with L2 autonomous driving assistance systems, including a lane departure prediction system, lane keeping assistance system, road traffic sign recognition system, and active braking.
