The all-new Hyundai Stargazer X has made its debut at the ongoing 2023 GIIAS (Gaikindo Indonesia International Auto Show). With its SUV-inspired styling, the Stargazer X will compete against the likes of the Suzuki XL7, Mitsubishi Xpander Cross, Honda BR-V, and Toyota Veloz. Keep in mind the regular Stargazer is already available in Indonesia where 7-seat people movers have quite a high demand.
Compared to the regular model, the Stargazer X features larger grille slots in its front fascia, complete with a reworked extruded bumper with silver embellishments for a more rugged look. It also receives some aesthetic enhancements like front and rear wheel arches finished in black, roof rails, a tailgate spoiler as well as a new rear bumper with silver accents on its under garnish. Rounding up the exterior look is a set of 18-inch dual-tone alloys wrapped in low-profile tires.
Inside, the Stargazer X maintains the traditional Stargazer MPV design configuration, but it now has a revised dashboard with black accents on the infotainment system and housing for the digital gauge cluster. Digital controls for the A/C system and an electronic parking brake with auto brake hold are now included in the updated dashboard design.
The Stargazer X has many cupholders and storage compartments throughout the MPV, wireless charging, wireless Android Auto, and wireless Apple CarPlay, just like the regular Stargazer. However, it now also includes a built-in Emergency SOS button and a premium Bose sound system. Though it continues to offer captain’s seats for the second row, effectively creating a 2+2+3 seating arrangement.
The regular Stargazer’s 1.5-liter Smartstream G four-cylinder gasoline engine is housed beneath the hood. It generates 114 horsepower and 144 Nm of torque, driving the front wheels using Hyundai’s Intelligent Variable Transmission.
Meanwhile, the brakes have also been upgraded for the Stargazer X. From a front disc brake and rear drum combo in the standard Stargazer, the SUV-styled Stargazer X comes with four-wheel disc brakes. It comes with Hyundai’s SmartSense advanced driver assistance systems as standard equipment, as well as airbags (2 in base variant, 6 in flagship), TPMS, ABS with EBD and BA, ESC, VSM, ESS, HAC, seatbelt pre-tensioner & seatbelt reminder system, speed-sensing door locks, impact sensing door unlocks, and ISOFIX child seat anchorage as default safety offerings.
