Isuzu Spices Up the D-Max Facelift with New X-Series Variants

While Isuzu D-Max with its obsolete generation model remains seated at the extreme bottom of the sales charts in Pakistan, the D-Max does exceptionally well in Southeast Asian markets and even outshines its arch-rival Toyota Hilux. And while Ghandhara has recently introduced a GTX variant here, which offers some addons that might require a magnifying glass to become evident, it’s simply not the case with the D-Max in other markets.

The third-generation Isuzu D-Max was given a thorough facelift back in October 2023 blessing it with a new, more aggressive look, along with additional features and technology updates. Now, the lineup is growing with the addition of the X-Series variants. The X-Series models are sportified versions of the D-Max. It’s something Isuzu has been doing in the Southeast Asian markets for years now.

The visual upgrades include a unique front apron with a more intricate design. Gloss black exterior elements, including the grille, test bumper trims, and foglight housings, are also a component of the X-Series aesthetic. Red accents and racing stripes are added, along with black wheels. Also added to the mix is a sports bar situated on the bed.

Additional red accents can be found inside on the gearshift, dash, and seats. X emblems are affixed to the dashboard trim and front seats of the D-Max versions to further differentiate them from the basic ones. An exclusive X-Series welcome animation is also included for the multi-information display.

Mechanically the X-Series remains identical to the previously available D-Max variants. Engine options continue to be in the form of 1.9L and 3.0L turbodiesel units. The 1.9L and 3.0L models’ power outputs are exactly the same at 148 hp and 350 Nm, and 189 hp and 450 Nm, respectively. Transmission choices include a 6-speed automatic and a 6-speed manual. The X-Series is available for both low and high-rider models, as well as in extended cab or dual cab bodies.
