MG Begins Taking Orders for ZS EV and MG4 EV in Pakistan

MG Pakistan has started taking orders for two electric vehicles— the MG ZS EV and the MG4 EV. Both vehicles are offered in two variants boasting different driving ranges.

The base Excite variant of MG4 has a 320km of driving range while the top-spec Essence variant boasts a 450km of driving range. Likewise, the ZS EV is available in two variants as well, the Essence good for 320 km while the Long Range variant boasts 500km of driveability. The pricing of both these vehicles are as under:

Bookings can be made against Rs 5.0 million while tentative delivery period is said to be around 4 months. Both vehicles come with a 5-year or 150,000 km warranty, whichever comes first, and an 8-year battery warranty. Details related to features and equipment remain unknown at this point in time.

Given that both EVs are well into the Rs. 1 crore territory, launching them in the current challenging economic climate is indeed a bold move. However, even those with good purchasing power may find it difficult to justify such expensive EVs due to soaring electricity costs in Pakistan, uncertainty surrounding its availability, and a lack of EV infrastructure.
