MG Cyberster Makes ASEAN Debut at 2023 Thai Motor Expo

The 40th Thailand International Motor Expo is underway and MG has brought in one of its most significant models in recent years. Previewed for the first time in the ASEAN region is the MG Cyberster EV, the first roadster built by the iconic British brand since its acquisition by SAIC of China in 2005. The vehicle is on display till December 11 at Challenger 1, Impact Muang Thong Thani.

The MG Cyberster wowed the crowd at the event with its very athletic overall design, scissor doors, and wine-red interior made up of premium materials. The unit on display is the top-spec trim with the dual-motor setup, producing a combined 536 hp of power and 725 Nm of torque with a 77 kWh battery capacity. It’s capable of reaching 100 km/h from a standstill in just 3.2 seconds.

Interestingly, the MG Cyberster on display at the 2023 Thai Motor Expo is a left-hand drive unit. Thailand, as we all know, is a right-hand drive country, and the press release states that this is “the first time in Thailand and ASEAN.” This implies that MG intends to introduce the Cyberster EV in the rest of the ASEAN region, notably left-hand drive countries such as the Philippines.

It is quite likely that MG will formally introduce the Cyberster EV starting from the Philippines and Thailand towards the middle of 2024 followed by its introduction in other ASEAN markets.
