Hyundai is on the verge of introducing the next-generation Verna sedan, the official renderings, spy shots, and undisguised images have already appeared on the internet. Now the latest image of the camouflaged test mule of the new Hyundai Verna has appeared on the internet, but it’s not how you have been seeing the test mules.
While the new Verna hasn’t been subjected to any NCAP crash tests just yet, a demonstration of its body integrity was witnessed when a test mule collided with the rear of a bus in South Korea.
A closer inspection of the photograph shows us that the principal impact was received on the bonnet, which has been crushed and folded, as well as damage to the front bumper and side fenders. While the speed of the vehicle upon impact is unknown, the sedan’s inside appears to be unharmed, with no damage to the windows or doors.
The new-generation Verna sedan is expected to have up to 6 airbags, an electronic stability control (ESC), ABS with EBD, and a full suite of ADAS tech (advanced driver assistance systems), as seen in the teasers, although Hyundai is yet to reveal much about the features officially. The radar-based safety features will include auto-emergency braking, adaptive cruise control, and lane-keep assist. Given that the test mule that crashed had steel wheels and appeared to be an entry-level model, ADAS was probably not present.
