Petroleum prices are likely to increase by up to Rs 12 due to fluctuation in global oil prices for the month of April 2019.
The Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority (OGRA) has forwarded its summary to the Petroleum Division on Friday, proposing that the price of high speed diesel be raised by Rs 11.17 per liter and petrol to be hiked by Rs 11.98 per liter for the next month. OGRA has also requested an increase in prices of kerosene oil of Rs 6. 65 per liter whereas a rise of Rs 6.49 per liter has been recommended for light diesel oil (LDO).
If government accepts the OGRA recommendations, then diesel prices would shoot up from the existing Rs 111.43 to Rs 122.60 per liter, petrol will increase from the current Rs 92. 89 to Rs 104.80 per liter, LDO from Rs 77. 54 to Rs 84.03 per liter and kerosene oil would go up from Rs 86.31 to Rs 92.96 per liter.
The final decision on OGRA’s recommendation is expected to be taken by the government on Sunday.
