Skoda Kylaq Unveiled at INR 7.89 Lac

After a series of teasers, Skoda has finally unveiled its Kylaq compact SUV, a sub-four-meter vehicle specifically designed for the Indian market. The official launch in India is set for December 2, with prices starting from INR 7.89 lac. Bookings will open on the same day, December 2, 2024.

As anticipated, the Kylaq resembles a smaller version of the Kushaq, with a similar front and rear design. From the side, its reduced length is noticeable, adhering to the sub-four-metre SUV regulations. It also comes equipped with 17-inch alloy wheels.

Interior highlights include dual digital displays, a powered driver’s seat, leatherette upholstery, connected car technology, ambient lighting, and a 6-speaker Canton sound system. Safety features across all variants of the Kylaq include 6 airbags, ABS with EBD, a traction control system, ISOFIX child seat mounts, headrests, and three-point seatbelts for all passengers.

In terms of dimensions, the Skoda Kylaq compact SUV measures 3,950 mm with a 2,560 mm wheelbase. Moreover, it gets a ground clearance of 189mm. The boot capacity is 446 liters boot, and with the seats down, it stands at 1,265 liters.

The Kylaq will be powered by Skoda’s 1.0L TSI petrol engine, delivering 114 hp and 178 Nm of torque. Buyers can choose between a 6-speed manual or a 6-speed automatic transmission.

Kylaq is crucial for Skoda in the Indian market, marking their return to the sub-INR 10 lac price segment after nearly a decade. Kylaq is expected to boost Skoda’s sales volumes and expand its reach into Tier 3 and Tier 4 cities, where they currently have minimal presence. Competitors for the Kylaq include the Hyundai Venue, Kia Sonet, Mahindra XUV300, Maruti Fronx, Maruti Brezza, and Toyota Taisor.
