Toyota Corolla is world’s most successful vehicle having sold more than 44.2 million units since it was first introduced in the 1960s. Corolla is also the longest running nameplate in the history of automobiles, and is also the global leader in vehicle sales each year.
Toyota Corolla surpassed Suzuki Mehran in 2009 to become the highest selling car in Pakistan and since then its position in the sales chart remains unshakeable. Pakistan also has the highest Corolla sales in Asia Pacific region and ranks 4th in the world in terms of sales volume.

Each generation of Corolla has become more successful than its predecessor. This is evident from the sales statistics in Pakistan. Ever since the 11th generation Corolla was introduced (2014), Indus Motors (IMC) has been able to sell more than 50,000 units in each fiscal year, the feat which previously no other Corolla generation has been able to achieve.
IMC sold 51,398 units in FY2014-15, 57,452 units in FY2015-16 and 52,676 units in FY2016-17 while 25,325 units have been sold already in the first six months of this fiscal year. No other locally assembled car comes even close to these statistics, the best Suzuki Mehran (second best seller) has ever achieved is 37,933 units sold in FY2016-17. So far IMC has sold more than 186,851 units of 11th generation Corolla within 4 years which is quite extra ordinary to say the least.

The 11th generation Corolla is available with 3 engine options in Pakistan- the 1.3 liter 2NZ-FE, 1.6 liter 1ZR-FE and 1.8 liter 2ZR-FE. However it is reported that the 1.3 liter variants will get discontinued in favor of the new Vios sedan that is expected to launch this year. The Vios will reportedly carry the same 1.3 liter 2NZ-FE engine that comes equipped with 1.3 liter Corolla XLi/ GLi variants. Although volume sellers are the 1300cc variants, it will be interesting to see how Corolla sales are affected in Pakistan once the 1.3 liter variants are pulled out.
