Alongside unveiling the 9th generation Camry, Toyota has revealed the new Crown Signia (Estate) in the United States. It is one of 4 body styles of the resurrected Crown series, with Sedan, Sport, and the Crossover already launched.
In the US, the new Crown Signia will replace the Toyota Venza (Harrier in our part of the world). It measures 4,930 mm long, 1,880 mm wide, and 1,620 mm tall while having a wheelbase that spans 2,850 mm.
Just like the 9th-gen Camry, the Toyota Crown Signia sits on the GA-K version of the Toyota New Global Architecture (TNGA) and will be offered with a hybrid powertrain. There is a 2.5L naturally-aspirated inline-four cylinder petrol engine that is supported by two electric motors. Power is transmitted via an E-CVT gearbox. The AWD portion of the system comes in the form of an electric motor mounted at the rear axle, which contributes to a total system output of 243 hp.

With these figures and the AWD hybrid powertrain, the Crown Signia is capable of towing up to 1,225 kg. Toyota also provided a preliminary combined fuel consumption of 15.3 km/liter (36 mpg) and pointed out that there will be three drive modes available- Normal, Eco, and Sport.
In terms of design, the Crown Signia features a ‘hammerhead’ fascia that aligns it with the latest breed of Toyota cars. There are unique details such as slim DRLs, a more closed-off and patterned grille & headlamps mounted at the corner of the bumper. Elsewhere, there is black body cladding and a typical SUV-like profile, while the rear end features slim full-width taillights.
The interior is identical to that of the Crown Crossover, featuring two 12.3-inch displays on the dashboard, one for the digital instrument cluster and the other for the infotainment touchscreen. The gear selector and two cupholders are located on the center console, while the air vents are located above the climate controls in a typical center stack. The steering wheel design is the same, as is the slight partition dividing the driver and front passenger.
Standard equipment offered with the base XLE variant includes 19-inch alloy wheels, Softex faux leather/fabric seat upholstery, a 6-speaker sound system, powered and heated front seats, a wireless charger, dual-zone climate control, wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay as well as keyless entry and start. 8 airbags and the Toyota Safety Sense suite are also part of the XLE’s list of features, the latter consisting of autonomous emergency braking, lane departure alert with steering assist, adaptive cruise control, lane tracing assist, road sign assist, automatic high beam, Proactive Driving Assist, blind spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert, and safe exit assist.
