With prices starting from just 88,800 yuan ($12,437), this reflects Wuling’s commitment to delivering efficient and affordable electric mobility options to the market. To give you an idea, this price converts into PKR 35.12 lac, making the new Wuling Starlight sedan even cheaper than the Wagon R AGS available here which is priced at PKR 37.41 lac.
At the heart of Starlight’s excellence is its proprietary technology, including the innovative “Wuling Lingxi Hybrid System” and the cutting-edge “Shenlian Battery.” These advancements contribute to an exceptional low-power consumption rate of 25.12 km per liter (3.98 liters/100km), surpassing industry standards according to WLTC standards.

Under the hood, the Starlight gets a plug-in hybrid powertrain that consists of a 1.5L four-cylinder engine and a 174 hp (130 kW) electric motor. The entry-level variant has a 9.5 kWh lithium iron phosphate battery that provides an electric-only range of 70 km, while the range-topping trim has a 20.5 kWh battery that increases the distance to 150 km. Both variants allow for an overall WLTC range exceeding 1,100 km.
The fashionable plug-in hybrid is sure to draw attention because of its aerodynamically optimized grille, which is located beneath a slim light bar. The sedan’s streamlined exterior and LED lighting combine to give it an impressive drag coefficient of just 0.228cd. Having a wheelbase that spans 2,800 mm, the Wuling Starlight sedan is 4,835 mm long, 1,860 mm wide, and 1,515 mm tall. To put those figures in context, the Starlight is just 43 mm shorter than the Toyota Camry XV70.
Inside, there is a minimalist cabin with a 7-inch digital instrument cluster and a 10.1-inch infotainment system. Also present is a floating center console, gloss black accents, a rotary shifter, a 6-way power driver’s seat, an automatic climate control system, and a 4-speaker audio system. The range-topping variant gets an 8.8-inch digital instrument cluster, a 15.6-inch infotainment system running Ling OS, which provides navigation and “voice interaction”, a fancier steering wheel, and 2 more speakers.
The market response to the Wuling Starlight in China has been overwhelmingly positive, with over 9,000 vehicles ordered during the 20-day pre-sale period.

Wuling has already established a footprint in regional markets, including a plant in Indonesia. The carmaker is witnessing good success in the ASEAN region with its affordable vehicle lineup. One can expect the all-new Wuling Starlight to make its way outside of the Chinese market, somewhere in the second half of 2024. We can only dream of the day when such quality cars at these affordable prices are available in Pakistan.
