Chinese high-end electric vehicle brand Zeekr, which comes under the umbrella of Geely, revealed its newest product earlier this month. A luxury electric MPV called the 009, it is perhaps an electrified answer to the likes of Kia Carnival.
009 is the second product by Zeekr after the 001 electric coupe, and is based on Geely’s Sustainable Experience Architecture (SEA) platform which also underpins the Zeekr 001, the Lotus Eletre, and the upcoming Polestar 5.
The Zeekr 009 MPV is the most-talked about vehicle in China right now, with many praising its daring design but an equal number of people criticizing the way it looks, particularly due to that enormous silver-plated grille up front. Geely calls the grille design “The Fountain of Light”, and it is fitted with 154 LED strips. The main headlights consisting of 3 units are positioned below, while the upper light signatures form in inverted U shape with the help of 5 dashed light bars.
The boxier styled MPV also boasts a number of interesting design features, for example the multi-spoke alloy wheels which shows kind of an outburst explosion with Zeekr written in between. Design details continue on the C-pillar, with a shark-fin door line and a 7-line silver decoration, topped by a silver colored lower roof line. There are sliding doors for rear seat passengers but the door handle gives a unified look, split between front and back door. There is a sunroof above the front seats and a much larger one above the second and third row.
Zeekr hasn’t revealed official interior images yet, but we have seen some spy shots already. The seating configuration is 2+2+2 for regular variants, however Zeekr will also offer a VIP version with only two seats in the back. The dual-tone interior features a dashboard with an HUD in front of the multi-function steering and a horizontal touch screen in the middle. The central tunnel gets a wireless phone charger and a drive selector lever.

In terms of dimensions, the Zeekr 009 measures 5,209mm long, 2,024mm wide, and 1,856mm tall with a 3,205mm wheelbase. For the sake of comparison the latest Kia Carnival measures 5,155mm long, 1,995mm wide and 1,740mm with a 3,090mm wheelbase. This makes the Zeekr 009 longer, taller & with a larger wheelbase than Kia Carnival which is only wider than the 009.

Zeekr 009 will use a dual-motor drive train, each motor to have an output of 272 hp for a massive 534 hp combined. Zeekr claims a top speed of 190 km/h. Earlier, the company said the 009 will have a drive range of 700 kilometers (NEDC). The battery pack is expected to be the same 100 kWh unit as used in the Zeekr 001.
Public debut of Zeekr 007 is scheduled for the 2022 Chengdu Motor Show which will open doors on August 26, while the luxury electric MPV will go on sale in Chinese market before the end of this year.
