Now patent images of the 11th gen Honda Accord have leaked on the internet, showing that the D-segment sedan isn’t drastically different from the current Accord. Honda is retaining its fastback shape characterized by the sloping roof line and short rear deck. Even the character line on the profile that arches from the front lights to the rear remains similar.

Up front, Honda seems to be phasing out the thick chrome bars of the Solid Wing identity with simple 6-point grilles and slim headlamps, as seen on the latest HR-V and newly unveiled CR-V. The rear end gets Audi-inspired full-width tail lamps with Honda emblem in the center. Plus there is an embedded spoiler, shark fin antenna and reflectors high up on the bumper.

The current generation Accord we have here, gets 1.5L DOHC 4-cylinder VTEC turbo engine that delivers 135hp of power and 233Nm of torque and comes paired to an Earth Dreams CVT gearbox. Though official information is yet to be shared by the company, the all-new Accord is expected to share the same powertrains as the 6th gen CR-V, including an e:HEV hybrid.

Despite the booming trend of crossovers & SUVs and dwindling sales of large sedans, Honda is keeping faith intact with the Accord which happens to be its oldest & most popular nameplate. Whether the 11st gen Honda Accord be able to lure buyers in a crossover-frenzy future, we will have to wait to find out.
