New Toyota Yaris Ativ Sedan Launched in Thailand

The new Toyota Yaris Ativ sedan has made its launch debut in Thailand. Based on the current Vios, the Yaris Ativ comes with a smaller engine to comply with Thailand’s Eco Car regulations.

The Yaris Ativ features unique front and rear ends to distinguish itself from the Vios, the latter featuring slimmer LED rear combination taillights. A large lower grille dominates the sedan’s face, with the typical Toyota V headlamp and grille combo occupying the upper section.

The Toyota Yaris Ativ is 4,425 mm long, 1,730 mm wide and 1,475 mm tall. Compared to the Toyota Vios, it is 5 mm longer and 30 mm wider. The wheelbase (2,550 mm) remains the same.

All five variants – J Eco, J, E, G and S, are powered by a 1.2 liter Dual VVT-i four-cylinder petrol engine paired with a Super CVT-i transmission.

On the outside, the Toyota Yaris Ativ features projector headlights with LED light guiding, horizontal LED DRLs, 15-inch alloy wheels, electrically adjustable and foldable rear-view mirrors and tail lamps with LED light guiding. While Leather door trim, shift knob and steering wheel, Optitron instrument panel with 4.2-inch MID and 7-inch touch-screen multimedia system with DVD player and six speakers are some of the interior highlights.

Safety and driver assistance features of the Toyota Yaris Ativ include parking sensors (rear), reverse camera, ABS, EBD, BA, VSC, TRC and HAC. The Yaris Ativ is the only car in its segment to offer seven airbags.

The new Yaris Ativ sedan will be slotted below the Vios and will compete against the likes of Honda Amaze and Mitsubishi Attrage. Toyota builds the Yaris Ativ sedan at the Gateway Manufacturing Plant in the Chachoengsao Province, Thailand. It plans to export the new sub-compact sedan from this facility to over 70 countries.
