Indus Motor Company (IMC) is reportedly working on to launch the Toyota Rush 7-seater MPV in Pakistan in coming months.
Currently in its third generation, Toyota Rush is a sibling of Daihatsu Terios, the second generation of which was sold by IMC as CBU a few years ago but was discontinued later on. Both Toyota Rush and Daihatsu Terios entered their third generation earlier this year and acts as replacement of the aging Toyota Avanza in most markets.

The duo ditches the boxy 4×4 look of old model (no more spare wheel on the tailgate too) for an SUV inspired styling with hints of Toyota Fortuner in the design. The twins takes on the SUV-flavored MPVs such as the Honda BR-V and Mitsubishi Xpander in ASEAN & other emerging markets across the globe.
Toyota Rush/ Daihatsu Terios are marketed as low-cost people movers across developing markets. Most recently, the Toyota Rush was launched in Kenya on 2nd of August as the cheapest vehicle available in its segment. Unlike rival Honda BR-V, the Toyota Rush uses a ladder-frame chassis for higher robustness which is particularly done to tackle the rustic roads in targeted markets.

It is powered by the 2NR-VE 1.5-litre Dual-VVT-i petrol engine that produces 104 PS at 6,000 rpm and 136 Nm of torque at 4,200 rpm, mated to a 5-speed manual or a 4-speed automatic transmission.

Although the Rush competes with the likes of Honda BR-V around the world, it will be quite interesting to see how IMC prices it. Since the obsolete imported Toyota Avanza is already the most expensive 7-seater available in Pakistan for PKR 38.5 lac. A new Toyota Rush will likely be more expensive.
