Toyota has showcased the 2019 HiAce Commuter at the 40th Bangkok International Motor Show (BIMS). This also marks the premiere of the 6th gen (H300) HiAce in Thailand, which was first introduced in the Philippines back in February 2019.

The new HiAce is built on a platform specially developed for this model. This is also the first time that the HiAce gets a protruding bonnet, allowing new engines to be fitted.
Measuring 5,915 mm in length, 1,950 mm in width and 2,80 mm in height with a wheelbase of 3,860 mm, the 6th gen HiAce is 535 mm longer, 70 mm wider and 5 mm lower compared to previous generation models. The wheelbase has also grown substantially by 750 mm.

Although the 6th generation HiAce comes in standard roof and high-roof body types, the HiAce Commuter on display at BIMS is based on the high-roof body type only.
The 2019 Toyota Commuter in Thailand is powered by a 2.8-liter GD diesel engine mated to a 6-speed manual transmission. Toyota will also offer the new generation HiAce with 7GR 3.5-liter petrol engine that will likely arrive towards the end of this year.
