The new 2020 Toyota Hilux & Fortuner facelifts that were released earlier this year have received 5-star rating in the latest round of ASEAN-NCAP crash tests.

For the latest stringent evaluations, the tested Hilux unit was Thai-spec 2.8L variant equipped with 3 airbags. The Hilux scored overall 83.42 points for its 5-star rating & secured 32.93 points for Adult Occupant Protection (AOP), 44.09 for Child Occupant Protection (COP) and 10.95 in the Safety Assist Technologies (SATs) category.
The latest results for the Fortuner are based on Hilux’s crash test assessment. According to ASEAN NCAP, the Fortuner has comparable occupant protection, based on the technical evidence provided by Toyota. The Fortuner facelift received an overall score of 87.46 points in the final weighted rating (47.27 for AOP, 22.13 for COP and 18.06 for SATs). Its frontal impact (14.53) and Side Impact (16.0) scores are identical to the Hilux’s, but the SUV gets a higher 3.50 head protection rating compared to 2.40 of Hilux.

Both Fortuner and Hilux facelifts made their debut in Thailand in June 2020 and have started to reach various markets across the globe. There is currently no information on the duo being introduced in Pakistan.
