Hyundai showcased the Tucson facelift in India earlier this year at the Auto Expo, the vehicle was supposed to be launched in March however it was deferred due to coronavirus lockdowns. Now the Tucson facelift has been officially launched today & is priced from INR 22.3 lac (PKR 49.4 lac).

The Tucson is placed as the flagship model in Hyundai’s lineup in India and the facelift comes not only with several exterior and interior updates but also BS6-compliant powertrains. The 2020 Tucson gets visual upgrades on the outside which are primarily highlighted by a more imposing cascading front grille, sharper LED head lights, reworked fog lights, redesigned tail lights and new 18-inch diamond-cut alloys.

On the inside, the SUV gets a premium all-black color scheme, leather-stitched dashboard, 8-inch floating infotainment screen, Infinity 8-speaker system, panoramic sunroof, dual-zone climate control ventilated front seats, power tailgate and a number of safety and convenience features including 6 air bags, hill assist, descent control, electronic parking brake (EPB), ABS with EBD, and front & rear parking sensors. Thankfully Hyundai has already brought features such as wireless charging, driver rear view monitor, push-button start and similar features in its lesser priced cars to the new Tucson in India.
Hyundai’s connected car technology– BlueLink also makes an entry into the new Tucson which enables users to control features like AC, engine start/stop, vehicle tracking etc using a compatible Smartphone and/or Smartwatch.
Under the hood, there is choice of two engines– a 2.0-liter petrol unit that generates 153 hp of power and 192 Nm of torque and a 2.0-liter diesel engine with 182 hp of power and 400 Nm of torque. Power is sent to the wheels via an 8-speed automatic gearbox.

The 2020 Tucson is yet another attempt from Hyundai at capturing a larger chunk of the premium SUV segment in India at a time when it already has a strong presence in the compact and sub-compact SUV segments with the likes of Creta & Venue.
