Hyundai-Nishat is all set to introduce the Tucson SUV in Pakistan that is expected to go in sale in the first week of August.

Till now it was known that the Tucson will come equipped with a 2.0-liter petrol engine churning out 155 hp of power and 192 Nm of peak torque. It will come available with 5-speed manual as well as 6-speed automatic transmission options in both 2WD & AWD configurations.
However in its recent teaser on social media, captioned “ready to get behind the wheels of innovation” the company has shared an interior image of Tucson showing its multi-function steering wheel & meter cluster. Interestingly the tachometer shows redline at 4500rpm which indicates that Hyundai might be introducing the diesel variant of the Tucson as well.

As for the diesel engine options available with the Tucson in international markets, there is a 1.6 liter U-Line CRDi in two tunes– 113hp with 280Nm and 134hp with 320Nm, paired to either 6-speed manual or 7-speed DCT automatic. Plus there is a bigger 2.0 liter R-Line CRDi engine with 182hp and 400Nm that comes paired to 6-speed manual or 8-speed automatic transmission option.
Tucson has already started to reach Hyundai dealerships
There is no official word on the engines & pricing of the Tucson yet however it is believed to fall between PKR 5.5 to 7.0 million range. With its positioning, the Hyundai Tucson won’t affect much of Kia Sportage’s sales however as an urban SUV with a diesel engine option in the lineup, it will likely have an edge over the likes of Toyota Fortuner, the diesel version of which cost PKR 91.49 lac.

As per information, Hyundai Tucson will be rich in safety & equipment. It will have 6 airbags, ABS with EBD & BA, hill-start & descend assist, electronic stability system, traction control, speed sensing door locks, reversing assist and engine immobilizer etc. Key features will include multi-function steering wheel, 10-inch floating touchscreen multimedia system with Hyundai Auto Link, wireless phone charger, climate control, rear AC vents, panoramic moon-roof and power adjustable driver seat etc.
