2023 BYD Han EV Launched in China- Gets 5,000 Orders in 4 Hours

BYD has launched the updated 2023 Han flagship electric sedan in China featuring several upgrades, some styling enhancements, and new exterior color offerings.

The updates in the new BYD Han begin with ambient lighting, an upgraded air conditioning system, improved Dynaudio, and steering wheel heating. Aluminum alloy suspension is also standard throughout the lineup. Its front-wheel drive model now comes fitted with FSD variable damping suspension.

The 2023 Han EV also boasts a number of intelligent features, including a 5G in-vehicle connection, an Apple NFC car key, and new BSD blind spot monitoring systems for the Noble trim levels with ranges of 605 and 705 kilometers.

The powertrain options remain the same, with front-wheel drive and four-wheel drive models available. The front-wheel drive model has a maximum power output of 180 kW, a maximum torque of 350 Nm, and a 0-to-100 acceleration time of 7.9 seconds.

As before, the 2023 Han EV is available with three different configurations and ranges of 506 km, 605 km, and 715 km. The 4WD version’s combined power output is 380 kW with 700 Nm of torque, and the acceleration to 100 km/h takes just 3.9 seconds. The four-wheel drive version has a 610 km range.

In 2022, BYD sold 274,016 units of its Han sedan, a 133% YoY increase. The Han’s EV model sold 144,665 units, 1,245 of which were exported, while the PHEV model saw 129,351 units sold. In the first two months of this year, BYD sold 23,990 Han sedans in January and February 2023, among which 10,701 units were EVs, whereas 13,289 units were PHEVs.


The 2023 BYD Han is priced between 209,800 to 299,800 yuan ($30,400 – $43,400). The car received an overwhelming response with more than 5,000 units booked within just 4 hours of the first day of pre-order opening which was 16th March 2023. Together with Han, BYD also launched the updated Tang DM-i, and the collective orders of both (Han & Tang) went past the 8,196 mark on the opening day according to the company.
