Daihatsu has launched the all-new Ayla hatchback in Indonesia following the debut of its sister model Toyota Agya in the Indonesian market in February 2023.
There are 2 engine options and 5 trims available with the new Daihatsu Ayla in Indonesia. The base 1.0 M MT is priced at IDR 134 million (PKR 24.33 lac), followed by the 1.0 X MT at IDR 146.9 million (PKR 26.67 lac), and the 1.0 X CVT at IDR 166.9 million (PKR 30.31 lac). Then comes the 1.2 R MT at IDR 164 million (PKR 29.78 lac) and finally the range-topping 1.2 R CVT at IDR 184 million (PKR 33.41 lac).
As before, apart from some mild styling variations, there isn’t much of a difference between the new Toyota Agya and the Daihatsu Ayla. However Daihatsu’s arm in Indonesia Astra Daihatsu Motor (ADM) is also offering Astra Daihatsu Styling (ADS) package for IDR 5.9 million (RM1,724) that gives further style enhancements to all the Ayla versions except for the base variant.

In terms of engines, the 1.0L is a 1KR-VE naturally-aspirated three-cylinder DOHC petrol unit with VVT-i that produces 66 hp of power and 89 Nm of torque, with power sent to the front wheels via a 5-speed manual or CVT gearbox. On the other hand, the 1.2L is a WA-VE naturally-aspirated three-cylinder DOCH petrol engine with Dual VVT-i. This powerplant replaces the previous 3NR-VE and churns out 87 hp and 113 Nm with similar transmission options of 5-MT and CVT.
As for equipment, the 1.0 M MT comes standard with 13-inch steel wheels (with 155/80 tires), fabric seats, a one-DIN head unit with 2 speakers, a rear tailgate release latch, and 2 front airbags. The 1.0 X has 14-inch gunmetal alloy wheels (with 175/65 tires), electric powered side mirrors, a rear wiper, a multi-info instrument display, a rear cupholder, a double-DIN head unit with 4 speakers, and an alarm system.

On the safety front, the 1.2 R comes standard with ABS and EBD, but VSC and HAS are still only available with CVTs. It should be noted that the ADS package does have an impact on the kit list: if selected, the 1.2 R receives a reversing camera, and the 1.0 X receives a double-DIN head unit with a CD receiver.
