After multiple leaks and teases, the all-new 2024 Lancia Ypsilon has been formally previewed ahead of its public unveiling on February 14 in Milan. With the unveiling of the company’s first electric vehicle (EV), the eagerly awaited “renaissance” of the long-neglected Lancia brand has finally begun.
The sub-compact model was unveiled in the EV-exclusive Limited Edition Cassina trim. To commemorate the year of the brand’s foundation, Lancia intends to produce 1,906 “numbered and certified units” of the Ypsilon EV.
The exterior of 2024 Lancia Ypsilon
The Ypsilon, which is the first production vehicle of Lancia’s new visual language, features an illuminated version of the “calice” grille., and spherical taillights that are reminiscent of the classic Lancia Stratos. These features were previewed by the Pu+Ra HPE concept and will be common among all future models including the Gamma crossover and the Delta hatchback.

Additional exterior characteristics are the glossy black accents around the exterior and the polygonal headlights placed lower on the front bumper than typical. Nevertheless, it is still evident that the new Ypsilon is the proudly Italian sister of the Peugeot 208 and the Opel Corsa due to its similar dimensions, identical mirror caps, and greenhouse sections.
The interior of 2024 Lancia Ypsilon
Moving inside, Lancia claims that great attention was paid to special design elements and premium materials to create a cabin that looks a lot like an Italian living room. This sensation is amplified by the collaboration with Cassina, an Italian high-end furniture manufacturer that helped with material and color selection. The circular center console, which resembles a coffee table, and the velvet-upholstered seats with the nostalgic “cannelloni” pattern are noteworthy elements.

The new Ypsilon is also the first model to introduce Lancia’s SALA (Sound Air Light Augmentation) infotainment system that will find its way into the entire future range. The digital cockpit is designed with two screens, and the glowing sphere above the dashboard is likely an AI-enhanced virtual assistant.
Lancia has not disclosed the technical specifications of the new Ypsilon, focusing instead on its exterior and interior design. The only official figure provided is the WLTP range, which stands at 403 km on a single charge. This range is likely achieved through the use of a 54 kWh battery pack, which is shared among various Stellantis EVs of the same size and platform.

The Italian hatchback shares its platform with numerous other Stellantis vehicles, including the Peugeot e-208 and Opel Corsa (which explains the familiar profile), and even the Jeep Avenger. Following the electric hatchback, a hybrid version is likely to be based on the Group’s mild-hybrid turbocharged 1.2L three-cylinder engine.
While the outgoing 13-year-old Lancia Ypsilon was only available in Italy, the new generation will be sold in more European markets, following the expansion of the brand’s dealer network.
