After Thailand and Indonesia, the all new 12th generation Toyota Corolla has now been launched in Malaysia, marking another footprint in the ASEAN market. The Malaysian-spec TNGA based new Corolla is available in one engine and two trims, and 5 exterior color options. The Corolla comes backed with a 5-year/unlimited-mileage warranty.

Under the hood there is a 2ZR-FE 1.8 liter four-cylinder petrol engine with Dual VVT-i punching out 137 hp of power and 173 Nm of torque. Power is sent to the front wheels via a Shiftmatic CVT with 7 virtual speeds. The powertrain has two drive modes – Sport and Eco.
Measuring 4,640 mm long, 1,780 mm wide and 1,435 mm tall, the new Corolla is 10 mm longer, 5 mm wider and 45 mm lower than the outgoing model, however the 2,700 mm wheelbase remains unchanged.

The base 1.8E variant gets automatic transmission, manual-leveling halogen headlamps, 16-inch alloy wheels, LED taillights, a reverse camera as well as front and rear parking sensors and fog lamps as standard equipment. Other features include keyless entry and start, a 4.2-inch TFT LCD instrument cluster display, single-zone automatic climate control with rear vents, a 6.8-inch touchscreen head unit with 6 speakers, black fabric upholstery and an 8-way powered driver’s seat.
The flagship 1.8G gets LED projected headlamps, 17-inch alloy wheels, an Optitron meter with a 7-inch display, dual-zone climate control, black leather upholstery, electronic parking brake with auto hold, paddle shifters, rear side window sunshades, a Qi wireless charger, panoramic view monitor and digital video recorders (front and rear).
In terms of safety, both 1.8E and 1.8G come with 7 airbags (front, side curtain and driver knee), Vehicle Stability Control (VSC), Traction Control (TRC), ABS with EBD and brake assist, Hill-start Assist Control (HAC), Emergency Stop Signal (ESS), tire pressure monitoring system, and IsoFix child seat anchors.

The flagship 1.8G gets a wider safety net with Toyota Safety Sense suite including Pre-Collision System (PCS), Lane Departure Alert (LDA) with Steering Assist & Lane Tracing Assist (LTA), Dynamic Radar Cruise Control (DRCC), (Automatic High Beam (AHB) and Blind Spot Monitor (BSM).
