BYD Atto 3 Debuts in UK

Chinese EV giant BYD (Build Your Dreams) has just launched the new Atto 3 EV in the UK with customer deliveries starting from 15th March 2023. The first BYD ‘Pioneer’ stores will open immediately throughout the spine of the UK, including Birmingham, Manchester, Glasgow, and Milton Keynes.

BYD has been present in the UK market with its pure-electric buses since 2013, driving over 43 million kilometers and lowering CO2 emissions by the equivalent of 46,000 tonnes. Now BYD officially enters the UK passenger car market with the Atto 3, delivering cutting-edge technology and groundbreaking battery expertise.

The Atto 3 in the UK comes available in 3 variants— ‘Active’, ‘Comfort’, and ‘Design’. As part of Phase 1 of BYD’s car entry into the UK market, the Comfort and Design variations will be available in Q1 2023, while the Active variant will be available in Q2 2023. Commenting at the launch, Michael Shu, General Manager, and Managing Director, of BYD Europe and International Cooperation Division, said:

Equipped with a 60.48 kWh Blade Battery combined with the permanent magnet synchronous 150 kW motor, the BYD Atto 3 can accelerate from 0 to 62 mph (0-100 km/h) in just 7.3 seconds. It boasts a WLTP drive range of 260 miles (420 km) and 351 miles (565 km) city range with energy consumption as low as 3.98 miles/kWh (WLTP) and 5.13 miles/kWh (city).

With a 150KW DC charger, the Atto 3’s battery can be replenished from 30% to 80% SOC (state of charge) in just 29 minutes. Overnight charging from an almost empty battery to a full range can be completed in just 6.5 hours. All three variants of BYD Atto 3 are also equipped with the VtoL (Vehicle to Load) function so external devices can easily be charged by the car battery.

Smart connectivity and leading infotainment systems are also key features of the Atto 3, which has a DiLink 4.0 (4G) intelligent connection system that delivers cutting-edge technology experiences and Over the Air (OTA) upgrades as part of the iCloud service. GPS navigation is included as standard across the range. The BYD Atto 3’s distinctive 12.8 rotatable touchscreens (15.6 inch on Design variants) with voice recognition delivers a plethora of connected experiences, as well as integrated Apps such as Apple CarPlay.

BYD Atto 3, which scored a 5-star rating in Euro NCAP crash tests comes equipped with a comprehensive suite of standard safety and driver assistance equipment. All models feature Forward Collision Warning, Automatic Emergency Braking, Rear Collision Warning, Rear Cross Traffic Alert and Rear Cross Traffic Brake, Lane Keep Assistance, Lane Change Assist, and Emergency Lane Keep.

In addition, further driver aids such as Blind Spot Detection System, Electronic Stability Program, Electronic Brake Distribution, Electric Parking Brake, Antilock Braking System, Automatic Vehicle Hold, Traction Control, Hill Decent Control, Traffic Sign Recognition, Intelligent Speed Limit Information, and Intelligent Speed Limit Control are also included as standard safety functions.
