The Euro 2024 championship, which will be held in Germany from June 14 to July 14, has announced BYD as its official E-Mobility Partner. The announcement was made by UEFA (Union of European Football Associations).
This year, UEFA wants to host the most sustainable European Championship yet. This is why the Union has opted to collaborate with BYD, the world’s largest NEV (new energy vehicle) manufacturer. The objective of UEFA is to offer participants in Euro 2024 a broad selection of BYD’s NEVs. Previously, Volkswagen was the mobility partner of UEFA competitions from 2018 to 2022. According to Guy-Laurent Epstein, UEFA marketing director:
“We are excited to welcome BYD, a pioneering brand with a 29-year pedigree in advanced battery technologies with a reputation for global innovation in new energy vehicles and the world’s biggest electric car company, as a partner for UEFA EURO 2024.”
In addition to providing cars to Euro 2024 participants, BYD will showcase its latest NEV models at selected UEFA Euro 2024 venues. Though the exact list of models is yet to be specified, it is expected that BYD will display the latest YangWang models during the tournament, including the YangWang U8 SUV, the YangWang U9 sports car, and the recently revealed YangWang U7 sedan. Michael Shu, managing director of BYD Europe, said:
“BYD is thrilled to partner with UEFA Euro 2024 and proud to be the first E-mobility partner for this prestigious sports event, which will enable us to showcase our latest advancements in electric vehicles to a far-reaching audience.”
In addition, BYD plans to set up official fan zones for those who wish to watch live match broadcasts. In order to celebrate the renowned tournament with football fans and customers, the automaker said that it will host hundreds of activities in more than 230 BYD stores around 19 European nations.
