The new Chery Tiggo Cross has been launched in South Africa, one of Chery’s strongest markets. It is essentially the latest facelift of the Tiggo 4 Pro that was unveiled in China in April.
This model will replace the pre-facelift Tiggo 4 Pro in other markets, but in South Africa, it is being sold alongside the pre-facelift, positioned between the Tiggo 4 Pro and the Tiggo 7 Pro. The design features include a larger grille, vertical LED DRLs, slimmer headlamps, and tiger-striped tail lamps connected by an LED light bar.
The Tiggo Cross is available in Comfort (ZAR400k, approximately PKR 61.69 lac) and Elite (ZAR450k, approximately PKR 69.40 lac) variants. The Comfort variant includes 6 airbags, 17-inch alloy wheels, electric-folding mirrors, automatic LED head and fog lamps, an LED rear light bar, and chrome exhaust tips.
The Elite variant comes equipped with 7 airbags (including a center airbag), ADAS, red brake calipers visible through the 18-inch alloy wheels, a panoramic sunroof, a 360-degree camera, and heated/electric front seats.
Inside, the design mirrors that of the pre-facelift Tiggo 4 Pro, featuring a single large screen that spans across both the driver and passenger sides, air vents running the length of the dashboard, and a compact gear lever made possible by shift-by-wire technology.
Under the hood, it boasts a 1.5-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine producing 147 PS and 210 Nm of torque, paired with a 6-speed dual-clutch transmission (the pre-facelift Tiggo 4 Pro, which debuted in South Africa in 2021, originally offered MT and CVT options, with the DCT being added to the lineup this year).
