Ghandhara recently unveiled the Cherry Tiggo 8 Pro and Tiggo 4 Pro crossovers in an event held in Karachi. The duo will go on sale beginning from within the current fiscal year as indicated by the company, most likely around the second quarter of 2022.
Recently however, the Cherry Tiggo 4 Pro was launched in South Africa, which is another Right Hand Drive (RHD) market like ours, and just like BAIC (the BJ40 Plus recently went on sale there), the product lineup for a Chinese automaker in an RHD market remains pretty much same. So looking at what Chery offers in South Africa, it does give us a chance to anticipate the pricing & features which will be offered with the Tiggo 4 Pro here in our market.
The Chery Tiggo 4 Pro subcompact crossover is available with two engine options and a rather competitive engine warranty in South African market. It comes fitted with either a 1.5L naturally aspirated engine or a 1.5L turbocharged unit & comes paired to either 5-speed or 6-speed manual or CVT gearbox options depending on the variant & configuration. The naturally aspirated one delivers 114 hp and 141 Nm whereas the turbocharged mill churns out 145 hp and 210 Nm.

Starting from the base trim which is called Urban, gets a 1.5L naturally aspirated engine paired to a 5-speed manual gearbox and is priced at ZAR 269,900 (PKR 30.53 lac). This is topped by the Comfort CVT variant which, as the name suggests gets a CVT & the same naturally aspirated engine under its hood, and is priced at ZAR 299,900 (PKR 33.93 lac).
The Urban and Comfort variants get 3.5-inch screen at the center of the instrument cluster together with a 4-speaker system for the 10.25 touchscreen infotainment system, as well as air-conditioning, keyless entry, 6 airbags, traction and electronic stability control together with roll stability control as standard.

Among the turbo variants, the Elite with 6-MT is priced at ZAR 319,900 (PKR 36.19 lac) while the one with CVT is priced at ZAR 349,900 (PKR 39.58 lac). These benefits from a 7.0-inch digital instrument cluster, 6 speaker system, dual-zone climate control, sunroof as well as full leather upholstery and an electrically adjustable driver’s seat.
The range topping model is Elite SE with CVT which is priced at ZAR 359,900 (PKR 40.71 lac). It gets red detailing above the front and rear skid plates as well as the brake calipers, red detailing in the cabin, a multi-color LED ambient lighting system and puddle lights in the side mirrors with special threshold welcome lights for the driver and front passenger.

All Chery Tiggo-4 Pro variants in South Africa come standard with a rather impressive 1-million km/10-year engine warranty together with a 5-year/60,000 km service plan as standard.
The Chery Tiggo-4 does look a promising addition to the crossover options available in the market, however pricing & after sales service will be a key to its success in Pakistan. Will Ghandhara be able to hit the nail right this time? We will have to wait to find out.
