FAW in China is all set to launch the all-new Junpai A70 sedan. The A70 sedan which was under development for quite some time now, is finally ready to be launched and has been exposed to the media. The Junpai A70 sedan is based on FAW’s own B30 sedan.
B30 sits under the Besturn sub-brand umbrella, which is supposed to be FAW’s up-market brand. Junpai is another sub-brand by FAW which targets towards budget consumers.
Both Besturn B30 and Junpai A70 shares the same platform, both even share the same engine which is a Volkswagen-developed 1.6 liter (1598cc) four-cylinder petrol unit with 109hp and 155nm torque. The engine which is Euro V compliant is mated to either a five-speed manual or a six-speed automatic transmission.
Since A70 targets lower budget consumers, it is expected to be cheaper than the B30 sedan. Official prices are yet to be announced. An A70 electric version was also displayed at the Beijing Auto Show earlier this year.
It is interesting to see such a huge array of vehicles by FAW out there. Al-Haj FAW can develop a decent lineup here considering the kind of options available there. Since the company is already in process of launching the B30 in Pakistan, it will not be possible to launch a similar vehicle with similar engine displacement. However, the A70 sedan perhaps with a smaller 1300cc engine, can be a good offering if its priced between the V2 hatchback & upcoming B30 sedan.
