FAW is all set to launch the all-new Senia R9 SUV in China on 7th May. The flagship SUV made its debut at the 2018 Beijing Auto Show last week. The flagship Senia R9 SUV will be slotted above the R7 SUV in China.

The R9 adopts an overall modern & stylish design language with a floating roof. The front fascia has a lattice grille decorated with chrome. The headlights with LED DRLs on both sides are connected to the air intake grille.
At the rear, the R9 is equipped with a horizontally-oriented LED tail lights and features two-outlet exhausts on either sides. The exhaust port is chrome-plated and the upper part is also added with exquisite silver trim.
Interestingly the FAW logo can nowhere be found other than the back of the vehicle, not even on the steering wheel. Instead the front fascia and well as the steering wheel bears the ‘Senia’ emblem which suggest that FAW will be marketing these cars under the Senia brand tag. The same can also be found on the latest iteration of the R7 crossover SUV, the R7 City.

The R9 features an impressive interior with large dials, multi-function steering wheel, floating touchscreen, panoramic sunroof and two-tone interior color coding with chrome embellishments that enhances the look of the interior. It is equipped with YatDrive Smart Link System, which has the ability of speech recognition and semantic analysis. In addition, the system also performs functions such as remote control, vehicle diagnosis, security protection, traffic information and providing rich entertainment facilities for drivers and passengers.
The Senia R9 measures 4505×1835×1695mm, with a wheelbase of 2700mm, and is powered by a 1.2 liter turbocharged engine with 150 hp and 215 Nm, mated to a 5-speed manual or a 7-speed DCT gearbox, sending power to the front wheels. In addition, a more powerful 1.5 liter turbocharged engine is expected to be launched in 2019.

Al-Haj FAW in Pakistan is in process of launching the R7 SUV which has been spotted testing on a number of occasions already and will reportedly go on sale by 2019. The success of R7 in Pakistan will open doors to more FAW products including sedans, crossovers and SUVs.
