GAC Empow Rebranded: Meet the Dodge Attitude in Mexico

Badge engineering may feel like a relic of the past, but some automakers still practice it in select markets, including Dodge with its ever-evolving Attitude—a subcompact sedan that has taken on different forms over the years.

In its earliest iterations, the Dodge Attitude was derived from the third and fourth-generation Hyundai Accent. Then, starting in January 2015, Dodge shifted gears and built the Attitude on the Mitsubishi Mirage G4 platform. Now, after nearly a decade of relying on the Mirage G4’s platform and running gear, the Dodge Attitude has evolved once again.

Having made its debut in Mexico late last year, the all-new Dodge Attitude is essentially a rebadged GAC Empow. Aside from the branding, there are virtually no noticeable differences between the Attitude and its original donor model. This isn’t the first time a GAC model has been rebranded as a Dodge. Previously, the Dodge Journey as well, was derived from the GAC-Trumpchi GS5.

The 2025 Dodge Attitude comes available in 3 trim levels:

Attitude SXT: Priced at MXN 399,900 (or around $23,480), the SXT’s notable features include a 10.25-inch infotainment system, a 7-inch LCD digital gauge cluster, automatic headlights, LED daytime running lights, and a suite of safety features, including six airbags and a rear parking camera.

Attitude Sport: For MXN 454,900 (around $26,710), the Sport trim adds several enhancements over the SXT. This includes an upgraded sound system, a 10.25-inch LCD gauge cluster, nine autonomous security features, front parking sensors, dual-zone climate control, a leather-wrapped sport steering wheel with a flat-bottom design, paddle shifters, and leather seats with heating and ventilation—the Sport trim rides on 18-inch aluminum wheels.

Attitude GT: At MXN 488,900 (about $28,700), the GT trim takes the Attitude to the next level with premium features such as blind-spot monitoring, a sport interior available in black or black/red, four-way lumbar support for the driver, a wireless phone charger, and a rear sports spoiler. The GT also features 18-inch aluminum wheels with a satin-black finish.

The fact that Dodge, a well-established name in the automotive world, has utilized GAC Empow for the new Attitude speaks volumes about the rising influence and reliability of Chinese automotive technology, which is now being integrated into vehicles sold worldwide.
