The Haval H6 was once China’s best-selling SUV; while it has since declined in popularity (H6 is currently the 6th bestselling SUV in China), it remains an important car for Great Wall Motor (GWM) and remains the best-selling Haval model in the portfolio. GWM is all set to give the H6 another revamp which is clearly an attempt to keep the car fresh in the highly competitive Chinese market considering the last substantial refresh just arrived in July last year.
According to details posted on China’s Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT) website, the refreshed H6 is now 50 mm longer with a length spanning 4,703 mm. In terms of appearance, while last year’s refresh saw the original large grille swapped out for a more enclosed fascia, this year sees a big mesh grille return along with prominent light strips extending down from the headlights. At the rear, the car no longer has a full-width light strip but gets a more traditional light cluster arrangement.

Powertrains are expected to remain unchanged with a choice of a 1.5T engine with 181 hp paired with a 7-speed DCT or a larger 2.0T unit good for 228 hp also paired to a 7-speed DCT gearbox. In addition, both hybrid and PHEV versions will be available. The facelift will likely be restricted to the Chinese domestic markets as exports in various developing markets in Asia (including Pakistan) along with South Africa and Australia continue to be in the currently available guise.

Haval H6 is currently in its 3rd generation the sales of which started in 2020. This is the fourth facelift the SUV has received in its lifespan of hardly 4 years and will probably be the last facelift before the 4th generation Haval H6 arrives. The latest facelift will make its public appearance at the 2024 Beijing Auto Show next week with sales commencing later this year.
