Honda City Now with Burgundy Interior in Pakistan

The 6th-generation Honda City is now available with a burgundy interior in Pakistan, at least how the company calls it. The new interior color is available across all variants.

My initial excitement for this new model came from thinking it would resemble the classic 3rd-gen Honda Civic of the 1980s that came with a burgundy interior option. Unfortunately, it turned out to be a disappointment.

What Honda Atlas has done is add burgundy seats and a burgundy center armrest, paired with the same gray door panels that feature touches of burgundy. The rest of the interior remains as is. This isn’t how special interior colors are treated elsewhere. While it was probably unrealistic to expect Honda to provide a fully burgundy interior like the classic third-gen Civic, it would have made sense for elements like the dashboard, center console, steering wheel, and gear lever to include at least some burgundy accents to complement the new look.

As it stands, the interior feels more like an aftermarket modification than an OEM offering. Surprisingly, the rear cup holders and seatbelts are still beige, when they should have been gray to align with the door panels, as that’s the color Honda chose to compliment the burgundy accents. Right now, it comes across as a haphazard mix-and-match of grays, silvers, beige, and burgundy, rather than a color treatment applied with clear intent.

The new iteration could have benefited from a more thoughtful improvement, instead of giving the impression of a cheap aftermarket modification. What’s your take on this move by Honda? Share your thoughts with us in the comments.
