Trademark registration is a normal practice for companies around the world. In case of automakers, it may refer to an equipment, a new technology, some performance enhancement or a new model altogether.

Now Honda has filed a trademark registration for ZR-V which is believed to be a new model in the Japanese automakers’ pipeline. According to information, Honda ZR-V was registered in Australia with the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO) on 17th of April 2020. At this stage, there is no concrete information about the vehicle or the markets where it is intended to be sold however with trademark filings in Australia, the vehicle might be targeted for Oceania and Asian regions.

As far as the vehicle is concerned the name ZR-V suggests it will be a crossover or SUV since Honda uses the R-V naming convention to sell different crossover SUVs in different markets around the globe. Such as:
- WR-V: Built on the Jazz platform, sold in India and Latin American markets.
- BR-V: Built on the Brio platform but extends as 3 rows & 7 seats MPV
- HR-V: Built on the Jazz platform, also known as Vezel in its home market
- XR-V: The HR-V twin sold only in China.
- CR-V: Built on the Civic platform
- UR-V: Larger than the CR-V, twin model of Honda Avancier in China
