Hyundai Ranks 3rd in H1 Global Vehicle Sales

South Korean automaker Hyundai Motor Group has announced that it ranked third in terms of global vehicle sales as of the first 6 months of calendar year 2022. This came on the back of increased high-end model sales despite the shortage of automotive chips.

According to the sales data, Hyundai, its luxury brand Genesis, and smaller affiliate Kia, sold a total of 3.299 million vehicles in global markets between January and June 2022, following 5.138 million units of Toyota and 4.006 million units of Volkswagen Group.

Hyundai says the increased sales of Genesis models, the all-electric Hyundai IONIQ 5 and the pure electric Kia EV6 have helped push up its sales ranking. Hyundai Group’s ranking jumped from 5th with sales of 3.475 million autos during the first half of 2021.
