Hyundai unveiled the enhanced 2024 Sonata midsize sedan for the North American markets during a YouTube news conference. The 2024 Hyundai Sonata receives a futuristic makeover as part of a mid-cycle refresh, including the sporty N Line model.
The exterior of the updated 2024 Sonata features new front and rear ends, a light bar that resembles a visor which brings it in line with the latest breed of Hyundai models, a wide grille and air intakes up front. In the back, full-width H-shaped taillights are positioned below a new, black panel with a textured finish. Additionally, each Sonata receives a rear spoiler, which Hyundai claims improves aerodynamics.
The Sonata N Line variant receives some subtle styling cues to emphasize its sportiness. It comes with quad exhaust tips and model-specific 19-inch double five-spoke wheels.

Inside, the 2024 Hyundai Sonata models are equipped with a curved display consisting of a 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster and a 12.3-inch touchscreen in a singular housing. Wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto will now be available on all models, along with over-the-air update (OTA) capability.
Hyundai TRACtion (HTRAC) AWD system is now available on Sonata for the first time. HTRAC is mated to the 2.5L engine to provide all-weather capabilities and enhanced driving performance by actively distributing torque between the front and rear wheels, depending on road conditions and driving situations.

The refreshed Sonata boasts an array of driver assistance and safety features to provide a comfortable driving experience. It is equipped with Forward Collision-Avoidance Assist 1.5 (FCA 1.5), Rear Cross-traffic Collision-avoidance Assist (RCCA), Blind-spot Collision Assist (BCA), Safe Exit Warning (SEW), Safe Exit Assist (SEA), Lane Keeping Assist (LKA), Lane Following Assist (LFA), Smart Cruise Control with Stop & Go (SCC with S&G), available Navigation-based Smart Cruise Control (NSCC), and available Highway Driving Assist (HDA) to help relieve driver stress.
Remote Smart Parking Assist (RSPA) enables the user to park the vehicle and exit parking spots by remotely reversing and forwarding with the smart key from outside the vehicle. Rear Occupant Alert detects and notifies if an infant is left unattended in the vehicle. Sonata’s noise, vibration, and harshness performance has been improved further with body reinforcements and a change in steering wheel material.
In terms of engines, the updated Sonata lineup includes a gasoline-powered 2.5L engine, a 2.5L turbo engine, and a 2.0L hybrid electric (HEV). The 2.5L turbo was developed especially for the N Line variant. The HEV model is equipped with e-Motion Drive, which enables a smooth and comfortable driving experience in various driving conditions, and for the first time, it has paddle shifters and a regenerative braking mode to further increase fuel efficiency. According to Hyundai, the new Sonata’s aero-friendly design improves fuel efficiency and stability during high-speed driving.
The 2024 Hyundai Sonata will go on sale in the North American markets this winter. Pricing will be announced closer to the event.
