Jeep Compass Facelift Launched in India at INR 20.49 Lac

Jeep India has introduced the updated version of the Compass SUV, which now includes a 4X2 option, known as the Black Shark Edition. The facelifted Jeep Compass range is priced from INR 20.49 lac for the base variant to INR 23.99 lac (ex-showroom) for the top-end model with an automatic transmission.

Jeep’s 2.0-liter Multijet diesel engine, which has a 168hp/350Nm output, is what drives this 2WD variant. The automatic gearbox, which has nine speeds, is the same one offered with higher 4WD AT models. Jeep claims to have one of the fastest 0-100kmph times in its class at 9.8 seconds.

In terms of exterior styling, the Black Shark package consists of 18-inch blacked-out wheels, a gloss black grille, and black inserts on the lower half of the bumper. The interior is all-black with red accents on the dashboard and steering wheel. On these recently introduced lower-spec variants, Jeep is still offering a panoramic sunroof, wireless charging, and connected car technology. This 2WD diesel AT has a claimed mileage of 16.2 km/l according to ARAI (Automotive Research Association of India).

Since the petrol engine was phased out earlier this year, the starting price of Compass has increased significantly, placing it well above its long-standing competitors. With the new 4X2 diesel AT variants, the new Jeep Compass can now compete with the top-tier models of the Hyundai Alcazar, Tata Harrier, and Tata Safari at a lower starting price. Furthermore, Jeep has expanded the availability of automatic transmission options to lower trim levels, resulting in approximately 20% lower pricing for its automatic transmission models compared to previous offerings, reducing the cost of entry-level variants by nearly INR 6 lac.

With current exchange rates, the Jeep Compass Black Shark Edition at INR 20.49 lac converts into PKR 73.05 lac and is actually cheaper than the decade-old 11th-generation Toyota Corolla in Pakistan. The Corolla is priced as high as PKR 74.29 lac for the 1.6L Altis X CVT Special Edition, PKR 77.59 lac for the 1.8L Altis X Grande CVT (beige interior), PKR 77.99 lac for the 1.8L Altis X Grande CVT (black interior)
