Changan’s light vehicle division, Changan-Kaicheng (Kaicene in English) has released the first images of their new pickup truck, the F70, which has drawn the attention of the Chinese automotive media due to its striking appearance.

Expected to be launched soon, the Kaicene F70 double cabin pickup truck will be positioned in the premium pickup truck market. The F70 will be available in two-wheel drive and four-wheel drive versions, with diesel as well as gasoline engine options on offer. As per reports, the F70 is jointly developed by Changan and its joint venture partner PSA (Peugeot-Citroen) in China.
As evident from the pictures, the F70 has a dominating design language, much like a high-end SUV. The exaggerated large-mouth black mesh grille with double-faced chrome strips and metal lower guard panels makes the front end extremely bold and highly recognizable. The headlights are also equipped with daytime running lights (DRLs).
The F70 pickup truck measures 5330/1925/1880 (mm) with a wheelbase of 3180 mm. The body size is among the best in the Chinese domestic pickup truck market. It is worth mentioning that the width is close to 2 meters, which is second to none in the domestic pickup truck type. For the sake of comparison, the Toyota Hilux Revo we have here measures 1855 mm in width, whereas the Isuzu D-MAX is 1860 mm wide. The Kaicene F70 with 1925 mm in width, is wider than both.
This enormous width not only increases the horizontal space inside the vehicle, but also provides better ride comfort. The enhanced track distance also improves the running stability. At the same time, the wider dimensions makes the cargo box wider, resulting in larger cargo volume.
Changan in collaboration with Master Motors is in process of introducing its range of light commercial and passenger vehicles in Pakistan. Master Motors have already introduced 6+2 seater Karvaan minivan and M-9 pickup in our market.
Interestingly, another local player Khalid Mushtaq Motors Limited (KMML), has signed a technical collaboration agreement with KYC, Changhan’s light vehicle division, for assembling light commercial vehicles and mini passenger vans in Pakistan.
KMML was awarded Greenfield investment status in December 2017 and is in process of setting up a vehicle assembly and manufacturing unit in Nooriabad industrial area. The total investment of the project is around Rs. 1 billion which would enable the plant to roll out 100 vehicles per month. KMML will introduce KY-10 pickup and 12-seater V5 minivan in Pakistan under Mushtaq brand name.

Changan has way too many vehicle divisions out there, Chana, Oushang, Kuayue and Kaiecene to name a few. It will still be interesting to see if the company plans to introduce the F70 double cabin pickup in export markets via any of its vehicle divisions.
More details regarding the Changan Kaicene F70 pickup truck will be updated as and when available. Stay tuned to CarSpiritPK, the #1 source of information on Chinese cars in Pakistan.
