The economic turmoil continues to cast its dark shadows on the businesses with Rupee now tumbling to a new record low against the US Dollar. As already indicated, auto assemblers were ready to give a substantial push to the prices in wake of depreciating currency against the greenback. Now Lucky Motor Corporation (LMC) has announced to increase the prices of Kia cars in Pakistan effective from the 19th of July 2022.

According to the notification, the price of Kia Picanto hatchback has been increased by Rs 500,000 after which the Picanto manual is now available for PKR 31.0 lac whereas the automatic variant is now available for PKR 32.0 lac. The price of Kia Sportage variants have been increased by Rs 897,000 for the base Alpha variant, Rs 892,000 for the FWD and Rs 887,000 for the AWD variant after which the Sportage Alpha now cost Rs 62.5 lac, the Sportage FWD at Rs 67.5 lac and Sportage AWD at Rs 72.5 lac.
The price of Kia Stonic has witnessed a surge of Rs 76,000 after which the base EX variant comes available at Rs 45.45 lac whereas the top-spec EX+ is now available for Rs 48.48 lac. This time LMC has pushed the prices of the Sorento as well, which remained intact in the last couple of price revisions. With an increase of Rs 895,000 the Sorento 2.4L FWD is now priced at Rs 78.0 lac whereas the price of 2.4L AWD and 3.5L V6 is equally pushed with Rs 926,000 bump, both these variants are now available for Rs 85.0 lac. Lastly, the price of imported Carnival has been increased by Rs 1,100,000 after which the luxury MPV is now sold against Rs 12,599,000.

According to the notification, booking of Picanto automatic and Sportage FWD & AWD variants is currently on hold. Also the recently imposed Capital Value Tax (CVT) is included in the revised prices listed above. After LMC, other automakers are expected to announce their price revisions soon.
