MG Records 15% Sales Growth in India in January 2021

MG Motor India has reported a 15% increase in January 2021 sales to 3,602 units compared to 3,130 units sold by the automaker a year earlier in January 2020.

Currently MG sells the Hector, ZS EV and Gloster in Indian market whereas last month it had launched the 2021 model of Hector, Hector Plus 6-seater and MG Hector Plus 7-seater.

The 2021 MG Hector is priced between INR 12.9 lac and INR 18.53 lac, while the 2021 MG Hector Plus 6-seater is available in the price range of INR 16 lac to INR 19.23 lac. The 2021 MG Hector Plus 7-seater is offered in the price bracket of INR 13.35 lac to INR 18.43 lac.

The price of the MG ZS EV ranges from INR 20.88 lac to INR 23.58 lac, whereas the flagship Gloster SUV is priced between INR 29.89 lac and INR 35.58 lakh.

From 1st to 11th January 2021, the manufacturing operations were suspended at MG Motor India’s Halol facility in Gujarat for annual maintenance, affecting production and the supply chain. Commenting on this, MG Motor India Sales Director Rakesh Sidana said:

“We have received a good response for the Hector 2021, including the latest addition to the family- the Hector Plus 7-seater. Our supply situation is chasing demand with ramp-up continuing post the maintenance shutdown and we expect good sales in February and March 2021.”

According to MG Motor India, the Hector currently has a waiting period of up to two months. On the other hand, the Gloster has a waiting period of three to four months depending on the variant.
