MG has launched the new VS hybrid crossover in Thailand, that is slotted between the MG ZS and the MG HS. The B-segment crossover will compete against the likes of Honda HR-V, Toyota C-HR and Nissan Kicks in the Thai market.

The MG VS HEV (hybrid electric vehicle) measures 4,370 mm long, 1,809 mm wide and 1,653 mm tall with a 2,585 mm wheelbase. The exterior design is based on its sibling, the Roewe Lomemo, with feature highlights including bi-LED headlights with automatic function, LED DRLs, rear fog lights, 17-inch Aero wheels, roof rails and a hands-free powered tailgate.
The rich list of features continues inside with panoramic sunroof, electronic parking brake with auto brake-hold, dual-tone synthetic leather upholstery, electrochromic rear-view mirror, and a 6-way electrically-adjustable driver seat. The dashboard gets a dual widescreen cockpit consisting of two 12.3-inch displays, a wireless charger, Apple CarPlay support, 6 speakers, 4 USB ports and a surround-view monitor.
The VS HEV is powered by a 1.5L four-cylinder VTi-TECH engine that produces 108 hp and 142 Nm, and comes paired to a CVT gearbox that sends power to the front wheels. The engine is supplemented with an electric motor juiced up by a 2.1 kW lithium-ion battery developing 94 hp and 200 Nm. The system produces combined torque of 350 Nm whereas fuel efficiency is rated at 4 liters per 100 km (25 km/liter) on the NEDC cycle.
In terms of safety, the MG VS HEV comes equipped with 6 airbags, ABS with EBD, traction control, hill-start assist, stability control and tire pressure monitoring system. The MG VS hybrid in Thailand is available in two variants– Model D and Model X priced at 859,000 baht (PKR 54.55 lac) and 919,000 (PKR 58.36 lac) baht respectively.
