New Changan CS55 Plus Facelift Launched in China

The 2nd-gen Changan CS55 Plus SUV, which debuted in March 2021 has received a facelift hardly two and a half years after its debut. The refreshed CS55 Plus features a redesigned fascia while the rear and interior are carried over albeit with minor enhancements.

Available in 3 variants, the new Changan CS55 Plus is priced from 99,900 – 113,900 yuan ($13,700 – $15,700). Positioned as a compact SUV, the CS55 Plus measures 4,539 mm long, 1,865 mm wide, and stands 1,680 mm tall with a wheelbase of 2,656 mm.

In terms of design, the front grille has a frameless design and is wider at the top and narrower at the bottom making an overall trapezoidal shape with mesh-like inserts. The large grille is surrounded by two symmetrical decorative chrome C-strips. The Changan logo is positioned in the middle while another trapezoidal grille is located below the license plate.

The side profile remains largely unchanged apart from petal-shaped alloy wheels. The rear polygonal taillights have a total of 128 LED units, the roof spoiler is integrated with the high-mounted brake lights, and there are two circular exhausts on either end.

The interior retains a 10-inch full LCD instrument panel and a 10.25-inch floating central control screen. Under the air conditioning outlets, there were physical buttons that had been removed. Adaptive cruise control, automatic emergency braking, and lane departure warning are among the level 2 advanced driving assistance features of the vehicle. Other configurations include a panoramic sunroof that can be opened, an integrated driving recorder, multicolored ambient lighting, voice recognition functionality, and OTA updates.

Furthermore, the central console has been upgraded with more padding on both sides and a smaller rotary shifter to free up space for the wireless charging pad in front and the cup holder on the right side. The new CS55 Plus has a five-seat configuration, and all of the seats are covered in imitation leather. Electric adjustment is possible for the driver’s seat. The premium version also includes second-row armrests and heated front seats.

Power comes from a 1.5-liter turbocharged engine, mated to a 7-speed DCT gearbox. The engine has a maximum power of 185 hp and a peak torque of 300 Nm. The top speed is rated at 190 km/h and the comprehensive fuel consumption is 14.4 km per liter.
