Chery hosted an impressive launch event earlier this week for the Fulwin A8L, claiming the sedan set a new Guinness World Record for “the farthest distance traveled by a plug-in hybrid production sedan without recharging.” The record is now updated on the Guinness World Record website.
The A8L achieved an extraordinary distance of 2,369.915 kilometers on a full tank and full charge (without refueling or recharging), showcasing Chery’s cutting-edge plug-in hybrid technology. Additionally, the event featured a crash test and a spherical scraping test, emphasizing the vehicle’s robust safety features.
The Fulwin A8L, powered by Chery’s Kunpeng Super Hybrid C-DM5.0 system, delivers an impressive ultra-long range of over 2,300 km, surpassing the 2,100 km range achieved by BYD’s fifth-generation DM Technology released earlier this year.

Key features of the Fulwin A8L include Chery’s fifth-generation 1.5T hybrid-specific engine with a peak thermal efficiency of 44.5%, WLTC combined fuel consumption of 4.2L per 100 km (23.81 km/L) without charging, and an exceptional combined fuel consumption of just 1.01L. The car’s continuously variable super hybrid DHT achieves a remarkable efficiency of 92%. Its pure electric range is 145 km under CLTC conditions, with a total range exceeding 2,100 km.
In terms of performance, the A8L boasts a hybrid-specific engine with a maximum power of 115 kW and peak torque of 220 Nm. The drive motor offers a maximum power of 150 kW and peak torque of 310 Nm. The combined system output is 265 kW and a peak torque of 530 Nm, enabling the sedan to accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in just 4.8 seconds.

At the launch event, the Fulwin A8L also highlighted its exceptional safety features through a crash test and a spherical scraping test showcased in a video. In the crash test, the vehicle maintained the integrity of the passenger compartment while all passive safety systems functioned as expected. Meanwhile, the abrasion-resistant spherical scraping test demonstrated the car’s durability, with no malfunctions affecting the vehicle or its power battery system. The battery pack showed no signs of leakage, fire, or explosion, reinforcing a strong sense of security.

This outstanding safety performance is further supported by the high-quality materials used in the car’s construction. The Fulwin A8L features a body made of 80% high-strength steel, 20.6% hot-formed steel, and a front bumper with 78.13% coverage, ensuring superior structural resilience.
