New Toggle Gear Selector for Peugeot 2008 and 208

Peugeot has announced that the new 2008 crossover and 208 hatchback are now equipped with a new automatic gearbox control replacing the conventional protruding lever. The new control that consists of an elegant toggle switch perfectly integrated into the central console, will also become part of the electric e-208 and e-2008.

With an efficient and modern design, Peugeot says the new gearbox control frees up space in the central console. The integration is perfectly suited to the environment of the PEUGEOT i-Cockpit 3D of the 208 and 2008, a subtle blend of technology and ergonomics.

Besides the usual R, N and D positions, the new selector also comes with a Park button and an M button for selecting the manual function (drivers can change gears using the paddle shifters). On electric models, that last button is instead marked B and turns on regenerative braking. Whichever function is selected (R, N, D, P, M or B), an indicator light comes on to signal its activation. The driver can also count on a reminder of the mode engaged in the instrument cluster.
