After an online reveal in early October, Suzuki finally showcased the next-generation Swift at the ongoing Japan Mobility Show (formerly also known as Tokyo Motor Show). While Suzuki calls it a concept, the showcased model looks production-ready and is expected to make its formal debut as a production version soon.
The new Suzuki Swift‘s shape has evolved to take on a more curvaceous stance, but some design cues are still indicative of its athletic nature. For example, it now sports angular LED headlights with LED DRLs in the shape of an L. The radiator grille has gloss black surrounds and a smaller overall appearance. Significant modifications have also been made to the back profile, including a sharper rear bumper and LED tail lights with C-shaped features. The new Swift’s rear door handles are worth noticing because they are now on the doors instead of the C-pillars like they were on the previous model.
The evolutionary design approach can be seen on the inside as well. A redesigned dashboard positions the free-standing touchscreen infotainment system above the central air vents. Additional buttons surround the center boss on the steering wheel, and the air conditioning system’s circular controls are replaced with toggle-like switches and buttons. There is still an analog dial next to a multi-information display, thus this instrument cluster is not entirely digital.
The Swift concept measures 3,860 mm long, 1,695 mm wide, 1,500 mm tall, and with a wheelbase of 2,450 mm. This is not too different from the current Swift we have here, which shares the same wheelbase, width, and height, although the overall length is down by 30 mm.

Suzuki has yet to reveal any details about the powertrain specifications for the Swift. While it is said to offer a new Z-series and hybrid powertrains globally, the ones in our part of the world could continue with the K-series 1.2L petrol engine. What’s worth mentioning is that Swift showcased at the show was also equipped with ADAS, which leads us to believe that the safety kit will also see a lot of improvements.
