For Chery International, the OMODA brand ushers in a new era. The OMODA C5, which offers “future-proof” technology wrapped in a luxurious five-door body, will be the first vehicle in the OMODA range in the South African market.
According to Tony Liu, the Executive Deputy General Manager of Chery South Africa:
“OMODA is a new, modern, and luxurious new vehicle brand that showcases what can be done when a brand is not hindered by legacy technology or design.”
From the middle of April, the OMODA C5 will be available at 30 dealerships across South Africa. The SUV pioneers a new design language called “Art in Motion”. The sleek lines, twisted flank, and boldface are hallmarks of the vehicle’s appearance. A wedge-shaped roofline running from the bonnet to the rear quarter, eye-catching arrow-shaped LED lighting, and a honeycomb front grille array are the highlights of its design.

Speaking of its design, Tony Liu says “the OMODA C5 looks like nothing else on the market. Its design, both inside and out, has been untethered from tradition and offers something fresh and unique.”
The OMODA C5 is built on Chery’s T1X platform, which aims to provide the crossover SUV with a sports car-like grip while avoiding the harsh ride found in many similar options. The T1X platform is distinguished by its industry-leading weight and rigidity rating.
The OMODA C5’s interior reflects the exterior’s futuristic ideals and is dominated by ambient lighting, a seamless center console, and seamless dual-integrated 10.2-inch screens.

As in other countries that have introduced OMODA, Chery has employed an entirely new team with new ideas to build the OMODA brand and community. “Nothing is off the table, and anything goes, as long as our OMODA customers feel the benefit”, said Liu.
The price of OMODA C5 in South Africa has not been announced yet, but it is expected to be revealed closer to the official launch, which is scheduled to take place on the 13th of April.

As exclusively reported by us earlier this January, Chery is conducting a feasibility study to launch the OMODA brand in Pakistan. As with other markets including South Africa, Chery will employ a completely different team to run the OMODA brand in our country. Hence it will have separate dealerships other than the ones which sell the Chery Tiggo 4 Pro & Tiggo 8 Pro crossovers in Pakistan. However, considering the ongoing economic challenges, it will be interesting to see whether the OMODA brand will make its way here or not.
