Opel has unveiled a new interpretation of their iconic ‘Blitz’ logo, which will appear on production vehicles as early as 2024. The move follows that adopted by various automakers in recent years that have been busy revamping their logo & brand identities going for flat, two-dimensional designs to facilitate the use on digital platforms. Nissan, BMW, Volkswagen, Lotus, Proton, Geely, Kia, Peugeot, Renault, Skoda, Citroen, and Aston Martin are just some of the carmakers to have revamped their logos in the last couple of years.
One of the key components of the innovative and much-praised design philosophy of the Rüsselsheim-based automaker will continue to be the Opel Compass, and it will also continue to proudly occupy the middle of the Opel Vizor brand face. The lightning bolt, or “Blitz” in German, is a powerful symbol for electricity and serves as Opel’s entry into the era of electromobility.
In the upcoming years, the German automaker will progressively introduce the new “Blitz” across its product lineup, with the first production vehicle expected to feature the new style in 2024.

The new insignia will, however, be prominently shown this year already, according to Opel CEO Florian Huettl. He said:
“The IAA Mobility is one of the largest auto shows in the world, making it the ideal venue to formally unveil our new ‘Blitz’ to a sizable, global audience. Additionally, we are planning a surprise. Visitors to Munich will be charmed by our presence.”
